A Bournemouth man has gained 18,000 online supporters, urging him to carry the Olympic torch as it passes through the town centre.

Gordon Roberts, 82, who is more commonly known as ‘Gordon the Tramp’, rose to notoriety after a Facebook group was set up to nominate him as Bournemouth’s Olympic torch bearer.

Gordon the Tramp is renowned for being able to tell the time without a watch.
