Let's Rock Elmo (Technabob.com)
Harry Potter and Elmo are this year’s must have toys for Christmas, according to an industry guide released today.
Let’s Rock Elmo and Scene it? Harry Potter: The Complete Cinematic Journey both made the list of the 20 top toys put together by the Toy Insider.
Scene it? Harry Potter: The Complete Cinematic Journey, recommended for children aged nine and above, tests fans’ knowledge of the eight movies.
Let’s Rock Elmo, which retails between £50-£70, allows preschoolers to interact with the Sesame Street character musically.
Users can choose which instrument Elmo plays, recognising which instrument they give him. The instruments are perfectly sized to be used by kids as well.
For those with a little more money to spend, additional instruments can be purchased for even more musical fun.
The biggest toy trend this year appears to be social games that promote face-to-face interaction between children and their parents.
Popular music was not exempt from the list as Justin Bieber’s Rockin’ Tour Bus and Concert Stage rated highly. Fans of the singer, between the ages of six and eight, can pretend they are on tour with the popular teen idol.
Apps from the digital world are also making inroads into the toy market, with Angry Birds range of plush toys aimed at younger children expected to do well.
Experts and industry insiders spent nearly a year calculating and deciding through the thousands of choices to compile the list. All 20 toys have been released within the last year.
The complete edition of the guide includes 110 toys recommendations from 80 different manufacturers.
