Will Ferrell has confirmed there will be a sequel to the hit film Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.
The 1970s newsroom comedy sequel doesn’t have a release date yet but reports say Adam McKay will return to write and direct.
Blades of Glory star Ferrell made the announcement as San Diego’s favourite Anchorman, Ron Burgundy on US television programme the Conan O’Brian show.
“I actually have an announcement. I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas, to our friends in Spain, Turkey and the UK – including England – that as of 0900 Mountain Time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel to Anchorman” he said.
“It is official! There will be a sequel to Anchorman. There will be a sequel.”
Co-stars Paul Rudd and Steve Carell are tipped to come back as their characters reporter Brian Fantana and weather presenter Brick Tamland.
There are no reports yet confirming Samantha Who? star Christina Applegate will return to play Ron’s love interest and co-anchor Veronica Corningstone.
