GAME retailers goes into administration with over 2,000 redundancies

Video game chain, GAME group, has gone into administration with instant closure of 277 stores in the UK and Ireland including Bournemouth’s town centre store.

The administers PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has announced that 2,104 redundancies will be made this week and the remaining 333 stores, including Poole’s, will stay open as the administrators search for a buyer.

PwC said that the group had suffered from high fixed costs and ambitious international expansion. and the rise in online only retailers.
